Day 20: i'm a little teapot {31 days of watercolor}

today was a quick exercise in trying out a new tool {or trick} called masking fluid.

masking fluid can be used to block the paint from certain areas of the paper that you wish to protect from the paint. it's really cool because you just apply it on whichever area you'd like to protect. then paint the other areas in. Once your paint dries the masking fluid easily rubs off with your finger and you're left with whatever was masked... blank paper or a previous wash of color.

i used it on the highlights on this little teapot. after i removed it i went back over the white areas with a light grey wash just so they wouldn't be quite so stark white. it was fun to try out and i'll be using it as needed now :)

tooo-da-looo!
