linen curtains {my home}

hi there!!
these kinds of projects [around my own home] is the reason i started sewing in the first place.
i can make my own curtains, bed skirts, slipcovers, etc- around the house for a fraction of the cost. yey!! and i also get to pick my own fabrics and make custom lengths!! bonus!!
so i needed curtains in our living room, but i wasn't in any hurry. i had almost gotten used to having none... and then i got the serena & lily catalog and fell in love with these linen panels...
but hello! i wasn't about to pay what they were asking for something so simple... that i could make.
after finding the perfect linen fabric and using an extra sweet coupon i ended up getting enough fabric for all four panels for less that ONE would have cost in the catalog!!

and i just finished and hung them this weekend!
i am so happy with the way they hang and really love seeing the sunlight through the linen fabric grain.

i decided to leave the top and bottom edges raw like the ones i saw in the catalog and finish off the sides. i like it so far but might run the machine over it later if the strings start to bother me. for now i like the casual linen look with the strings and wrinkles :)

i chose a nice cast-iron rod and i also decided to sew on cast-iron rings as well. i have come to realize that i completely love curtain rings. they make it SOO much easier to slide the curtain on a daily basis and they gather the material so much closer on the side as well.

oh and did i mention i had the world's most wonderful assistant?!!
xo!!

napmats {more selections}

I have a few more selections of napmats in my Etsy shop! They are made and ready to go! Yey!! And still a few more in the works and on their way :)

I know napmat "season" if you will is pretty much over. Mostly people are looking for them right before school starts, maybe another small bump in January, but despite that I've been getting interest on Etsy still. Really, because kids can use these at home to rest in a different room from their beds or taking them over to grandma's, etc- I absolutely LOVE making these! I just love making something that has a purpose and a use. I love thinking about sweet little girls and boys resting their sweet selves on these fun, soft, cozy mats :) For this reason I will continue to have new prints show up now and then!!
And please, if you ever want a custom color or fabric just let me know!!

napmat! napmat!

My mommy brain must be warped... every time I say the word napmat I have the urge to say it twice and to the Dora backpack tune... "Napmat, napmat....."Ahhh, such is life and it's phases :) and this is a fabulous phase!!

So with Bubs beginning preschool this Fall I decided that I would try my hand at making his napmat. Upon googling some sort of directions the first (and best) one I ran across was Jenny Garland's tutorial. Here's the result...

 I had a wonderful, local monogrammer put his name on the front and it's perfect!

 Button closure...
extra special because I found these in my Nana's stash of buttons :)

Comfy cozy and just what the Bubs loves... baseball!!! and texture :)

 Yey!! He's a fan!!

If you're on the prowl for a custom napmat - where you get to pick your own fabric and colors for your little preschooler- send me an email! I just may have it in me to make a few more!!

Lil girl dresses! {handmade}

Hello, hello! I find myself looking at Violet's dresses all too often and thinking how simple they seem to piece together. So last night I gave it a shot with some linen fabric I already had. I love it!! And it was so much fun! I used a dress I bought for her from the tea collection's recent sale as inspiration. Cute, simple and fun.

(My little model is the best isn't she?!)
When that one was a success I was immediately inspired and took an idea I saw online to repurpose an old shirt from dad. I had this yellow striped one of Carter's in a box and made it into a dress. Talk about fun!! (talk about quick!)
(She's really getting into it now!!)
And so I'm not selling anything yet, but how fun would it be to sell something like this!! Wheels are spinning.

pillow covers

more pillows! my couch has been in desperate need for some more color. i have loved my nana pillows, but i have had these fun fabrics for a while and the plain-ness of the old pillows on my couch has been annoying me, so i made some simple slipcovers a few nights back. i love how much color they add and an unexpected graphic print can be super fun :) besides, it's little commitment, if i don't like it in a few months it can be changed!

this one is a small 15x15"...loving the polka dots!

i kept the 22x22" ones for the couch in similar blue tones to match the other pillows

this zig-zag print is everywhere and is also super fun!

i love adding my little labels onto things i make now... it feels so "official", so i have to snap shots of them too :) it's the little things, right?!

and ta-da! there is the couch as it sits now... the little ruffley pillow is from pier one and technically could be blamed for my recent swing into the blue/greys. it is what i took into sherwin williams that lead me to paint the china cabinet interesting aqua... love that little guy :)

need some new pillows to spruce things up? send me a note!!
xoxo

neutral pillows... {ruffles galore!!}

In finishing up some details for the chair and ottoman below are 4 matching throw pillow covers in neutral tones. Neutral, but girlie... with all the frills, RUFFLES!! These pillows are to be the backdrop for beautiful rosettes... SO fun because they can be pinned on, changed out with the season or on a whim.

slipcovers... {chair and ottoman}

My sweet {and immensely talented} friend Andrea of the Chica Boutique asked me to create these slipcovers for her leopard print chair and ottoman. I love an easy-going look that still achieves custom fit and design. Heavy duty white canvas and burlap update leopard print with such a fresh, clean look. Then throw on a few pillows to change up the look from season to season! ☀

graphic bibs

simple and fun (just like my bubs!)
these little bibs were as fun to make as they are to put on my baby boy!
...and even after meeting a baby and his food- they have washed very well ★

owl bookends

these bookends were a blast to make for my lil gal :)
planning to make a few more in other designs- to come!
